Many people believe IP based cameras are the future. They work by turning images and audio into data then transmitting this data over a network or Internet connection. Over the last 5 years the development of the cameras has been dramatic. The major benefit of this over analogue CCTV systems is greater flexibility, better performance and easier on larger site installations.
IP CCTV systems communicate using IP, allowing them to integrate and co-exist on the same network/cabling as other IP based systems, this isn’t always the best solution and building managers should be consulting both the contractors and IT providers to work in tandem, equipment such as Access Control seems to work fine an IP Phone Systems may cause problems especially if the switches are working on QOS, (Quality of Service)
