Brief: To Design, Install and Commission a Monitored CCTV System with Audio, and upgrade the current Intruder Alarm System.
Systems: Hikvision IP CCTV System and Honeywell Galaxy Intruder Alarm System
The Challenge: To design a CCTV System that will provide full coverage of the site, delivering a safer working environment for the staff during working hours. Signalling any alarms triggered to an accredited Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), who will then produce an audio announcement if there is a threat perceived.
We have also been asked to upgrade the clients current Intruder Alarm System to offer more coverage and provide equipment in line with the requirements of EN50131, PD6662, and BS8243.
The Solution: For this client, the best way forward was to use IP CCTV cameras that produce alarms through video analytics, video analytics uses mathematical algorithms linked to computer vision technology. These algorithms allow CCTV cameras to be programmed to extract only useful information to provide hugely more accurate and effective video security than having to rely on the alertness of human operators.
When an alarm is produced and received by the ARC an audio announcement will be given whilst an operator is watching the live image. If after an audio announcement is given and there is still a threat to site, the operator will call the Police.
The Intruder Alarm System has been upgraded to a Honeywell Galaxy Intruder Alarm, this system meets all requirements as requested. This system has a Dual Comm installed to send signals to the ARC. A Dual Comm is a dual path signalling device that communicates over GSM and any working landline so if one path fails there is always one good working path.
The Results: We feel we have successfully met our client’s brief, the systems are working effectively providing 24 hour security and minimising our client’s previous financial overheads.
